"My husband had rescued her mother named Blue-Eyes...she had two kittens that survived, Siamese X twins...Rocksy (appointed mine) and Lurchy (my husband's)...who we are still blessed to be guardians of. She was born just a month after we were married. For the longest time we worried because only one of her eyes opened...but she was ok, till at about 7 weeks she swallowed an ear plug and needed an operation. She was always an alpha child, stomping her cute tiny little princess toes to get whatever she wanted, and it worked for her, until the next time trouble knocked at her door. She still always stomped those cute toes!
She survived a coyote attack (by the way she was an indoor cat...a story unto itself), had heart problems (which we found out about on an emergency trip to the vet on Xmas day, no less), had her thyroid killed off with a radioactive iodine treatment (the only solution we had). Our girl had to stay in an isolation chamber for a week in Calgary, we could only see her online. Then she got Diabetes and needed us to give insulin every 12 hours and inject fluids every few days. Believe it or not...she was still Rocksy, queen of the universe. We built her a pond to pee in (about 10ftx10ft) in her open sunroom cause she couldn't make it over the lip of a litterbox, as the result of the coyote attack and arthritis. She had lifts to get up to the furniture and generally...ruled the roost!
Sadly, we awoke one morning at about 4am to her calling for her mom and dad, in a way we will never forget, but will be forever thankful for. She called us to comfort her and be with her and we were.
